Mumbai-based Rashi Peripherals is giving away gold coins to
its partners who have done good business in the brand in the OND 05 quarter. The
disti had run a promotion for the brand during this period and around 167
partners qualified for the prizes. Of these 86 partners will be felicitated by
Rashi in a three-city event this month.

“We are having a channel event at three
locations-Cochin, Pune and New Delhi-where our winning partners will be
felicitated. We expect 300 partners to join us in Cochin while Pune and New
Delhi will witness a gathering of at least 150 partners each,” said Rajesh
Goenka, Divisional Head, Rashi Peripherals. The company will also use these
events as a platform to formally launch three new Sony products.

These include DVD Direct, a device that allows a user to
copy DVDs directly from a handycam or VCR. There is also a DVD writer, which
comes with a RAM facility as well as a multi-card reader in the form of a floppy
disk drive.

Shedding
more light about the promotion, Rajesh said there were three slabs of winners.
Three partners with the highest sales achievements were christened as Maharajas.
These include Spectrum Computers from Mumbai as well as Eastern Logica and
Balaji Solutions from Kolkata.

The second slab consists of partners, also called Sony
Rajas, with slightly lower sales achievements and includes Real Computers from
Nagpur and Obel Computers from Secunderabad.

These five partners will win gold coins varying from 200 to
400 grams, depending on the quantity of Sony business they have generated and
the areas in which the operate. The other 81 partners will also get gold coins
in the multiples of 10 grams each.

“During this program we noticed a 40 percent increase in
our Sony business, which justifies encouraging the channel with such incentives.
Also, we prefer to give tangible prizes which partners can't discount in their
product selling prices and can also use as and when they want,” informed
Rajesh.

Recently Rashi has shifted its head quarters to a new
location in Mumbai, to give it a more corporate look. Rajesh has not ruled out
rejuvenating this program at a future date, depending on the channel's
feedback.
