IT marketers feels dejected this Diwali

Diwali, it’s that time of the year when vendors announce exciting offers, and

new products are launched but this year Diwali excitement has turned dull. This year’s festival sale in Chandigarh and Punjab at the time of Diwali has gone down. In comparison of previous years, Laptop and desktop market in Punjab has been gone down at just 30-35%. While the fourth quarter has traditionally been one which partners have looked forward to, this year the grim situation brought no cheer from this front.

This year not only IT partners in Punjab are worried but farmers who do cotton farming are very depressed due to dreadful farming this year. So it has been noticed that customers have shortage of money that affects IT market.

Partners in Chandigarh marked a stark difference in sales as compared to last

year. Surendra Chug, director, Simit Technology and Manit Technology shared, "This time the market has been very slow and there is no excitement as such for Diwali. The reason is not only the online market but also financial crisis in Punjab."

Sanjeev Walia, president, Chandigarh Computer Association added, “There was no joyfulness among customers. This was also owing to the shortage of money. Therefore, the market this Diwali has been very weak in comparison to previous ones. I have

never observed such a silent Diwali. Last year at the time of Diwali, we had protest against unethical online practices and we had Band in the market. Though we had 50% business in the last year. But this time we were expecting more from the market which was not up to the mark.

Vikram from Diksha Computers said, "Diwali this year does not seem to be as exciting as

it was earlier. Unethical online practices are one of the major reasons behind it. Competition in the market, running cost are also falling the market down. We had just 30-35% market this year which is something very serious thing to survive in the market.”

While the general feeling in the IT market has been low, partners are optimistic that the scenario would get better in the next two or three months time.
