The newly appointed National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) President R Chandrashekhar seemed quite optimistic about the growth of IT and said the outlook for the sector was positive in the times to come.
"I think at this point it will be fair to say - yes qualitatively we certainly expect it to be better.....but how much better- it is too early to say. It is not going to be dramatic step up, but definitely I think the outlook is positive and we do see that the direction of change is up, not down," said Chandrashekhar.
He further added that the future looks positive for the Indian IT-BPM industry as the sector is evolving dramatically in terms of scale, complexity, and innovation.
The former Union Telecommunication Secretary replaced Som Mittal, who served as NASSCOM chief since 2007 and retired on January 3.
"I feel privileged and look forward to leading Nasscom in its next journey of achieving the vision and aspiration of $300 bn revenues by 2020. The opportunities are very vast at this particular juncture and exciting times lie ahead for the industry," he said.
Chandrashekhar is NASSCOM's fourth president. He has served as the chairman of Telecom Commission and Secretary of the Department of Telecom till March last year.
