IP-SAN storage for mass market

HP has introduced a high capa-city IP-based storage solution that brings down
the cost-per-terabyte. Targeted at the APAC market, the new solution will
deliver the benefits of SAN storage to the mass market. The two entry-level HP
Storage-Works IP Storage 500 and 1500 solutions provide businesses with a low
cost, quick to install and easy to use network stor-age solution leveraging on
the inexpensive Ethernet infrast-ructure. The solution integrates the low cost
Serial ATA disks with industry standard iSCSI technology.

"StorageWorks IP helps customers consolidate storage from multiple DAS
installations to a simple networked storage platform. It also helps in quick,
easy, affordable capacity expan-sion, processing relief for appli-cation servers
and providing cost effective transport for SAN," said Avijit Basu, Network
Storage Solution Country Sales Manager, HP India Customer Solutions Group.
"Storage-Works IP Storage would become popular in the SMB segment in
India," he added.

Both HP StorageWorks IP Storage 500 and1500 are also certified by Microsoft
to host Microsoft Exchange and SQL. The HP StorageWorks IP Storage 500 and 1500
are available in three capacity points of 320GB, 640GB and 1TB respectively.
Both HP StorageWorks solutions come with dual operating system partitioning and
a quick restore DVD to allow for recovery in minutes.
