Intex launched its first store named 'Intex Square' at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
The store was inaugurated by Narendra Bansal, CMD, Intex.
The company plans to invest over Rs100 crore in its retail ventures for this
fiscal and the next.
Intex and its channel partners are to be jointly responsible for Intex
Square. Due to this, comÂmitted channel partners are to be shortlisted from a
vast network of over 2000 distributors. This strategy signifies the extension of
the mutually beneficial relationship to the next level. As the retail activity
progresses, the company may evolve other models also for expansion.
The flagship store at Meerut has already been put up in association with M/s
RCA Technologies, a prime distributor of Intex in the area. An entire range of
Intex products is already placed on the shelves. These include PCs, TFT LCD
monitors, Netbooks, mobile phones, MultiÂmedia speakers, DVD players, UPS,
cabinets, web cameras, keyboards, mouse, headphones. The store covers over 2000
sq ft area, and the interior has a 'modern format' look.
An optimistic, Bansal said, “The venture will bring us closer to our existing
as well as prospective consumers. We have a wide range of products, a good
support of partners, a dedicated team, strategic locations and a strong after
sales service back-up.”
It is noteworthy that the roll-out has been planned in two phases. Based on
current reckoning, the company expects 60 Intex Square stores to open in India
by March, 2011.
