Acer Communications & Multimedia (ACM) has launched a new scanner that can get your images on the Internet or into your PDA-the Acer S2W 4300U. The new product would be made available through Mumbai-based SES Technologies which is the exclusive national distributor for Acer products. The Acer Ace Club Partners in Chennai are MD Tolia Computers, Devaraj Computers, Bohra Technologies, Sri Lakshmi System Products, RM Computers and
Micronet.
ACM has given the name 'easy touch, easy go' to these three push-button functions collectively. The three buttons allow instant access to four powerful features-Web access, PDA downloading, e-mail, and regular scanning. By using the Web button, scanned images can be sent directly to the user's personal space on a photo-sharing website, allowing him to create an online photo album, and then use the website's service to inform friends and family about the uploaded images.
In addition to the 'easy touch, easy go' hotkeys on the chassis, the Acer S2W 4300U comes with the ScanButton software, which is best described as a collection of 'virtual hotkeys.' Users can easily upload images to the Internet, download them to a PDA, attach them to e-mails, as well as fax, print and scan into editable text using OCR by passing scanned images to the appropriate software application, all with just a click of an on-screen button.
The visual design of the Acer S2W 4300U utilizes a platinum as its main color scheme, with a brown base and muted silver button accents. Weighing only 2.1 kilograms and having a super-slim form factor, the scanner is easy to transport. The Acer S2W 4300U offers technical specifications as 600 x 1200 dpi optical resolution, USB interface, ACM's own cutting-edge ACE(Advanced Color Enhancement) technology, which provides 48-bit color depth for 281 trillion distinct colors and ultra-realistic scanned images.
The Acer S2W 4300U's software bundle includes the MiraScan driver, the ScanButton scanning automation software, Ulead's Photo Epress image processing application, the Presto! PageManager image file manager, Adobe ActiveShare Internet image-sharing software, ABBYY FineReader OCR package, Chinese-language OCR, and the Copier duplication software. Users of the new scanner can post their images to the Imira site in Taiwan
