Intel is
planning to engage with product companies and design houses in the
industrial sphere with prime focus on energy industry vertical.
Energy management is one of the
very relevant applications for the Indian market to reduce power
consumption. S Natarajan, country business manager, embedded markets,
Intel South Asia said, “Intel's latest generation embedded Atom
platform addresses requirements for this application and related
machine to machine (M2M) technology. We are working with our
ecosystem partners to come out with more products and solutions in
this area.”
M2M
technology enables devices to communicate among them with the
back-end systems using
wired or wireless connectivity. It is a horizontal technology which
applies to many verticals including energy. Here it applies to the
supply/demand aspect as well as others such as alternative energy.
Within supply demand, it is used in multiple areas such as power
generation, transmission, distribution, power quality and energy
management. Altogether it can monitor power consumption of a device.
Natrajan further added, “We see its adaptation in government and
private sector power projects for generation, transmission,
distribution, power quality and within enterprise, SOHO/SMB and
consumers for energy management.”
As per the
latest reports, Intel and Infosys are working together to build a
digital smarthome gateway; with KLG Systel to develop street lights
that turn on and off automatically; and with Wysine to develop
energy-saving products for the textile industry.
“We have
partnered with product/solution companies such as Wysine, KLG Systel
and also design service companies like Infosys to support them for
developing solutions on
embedded Intel architecture and also collaborated with them in their
go-to-market efforts,” Natarajan concluded.
