Resentment
among the members of All Kerala Information Technology Dealer
Association
(AKITDA) has come down after consensus with Intel. This was following
a meeting with Intel service head at Digicare Service Center at
Kochi, on July 22, 2011.
Recent
policy
change by Intel for replacement and warranty support on motherboards
irked dealers across Kerala. Earlier Intel discontinued its Advanced
Warranty Replacement (AWR) and Standard Warranty Replacement (SWR)
service after

took over Redington as the service provider of
Intel. From June 6, 2011 there was a
change in the policy. The replacements for motherboards under
warranty
became tougher as Digicare rejected the eligibility of most of the
motherboards for replacements, which resulted in devalued post-sales
service, according to the AKITDA members. The DQ Week was the
first to report the
issue.
As a result
100 furious AKITDA members protested outside Digicare, Intel's
service provider in Kochi. Further to calm down the situation, a
meeting was held where unanimously both Intel and AKITDA members came
to a common decision. Intel was represented by Raghavendra Adigoly,
national service head and Ritesh, sales head, Kerala region and
AKITDA was represented by Suresh Babu, state president; Jyothi
Sankar, state general secretary; Toshy Mathew, Ernakulam
president;and PG Suresh, immediate past president. The minutes of the
meeting suggest that normalcy had been restored between the AKITDA
members and Intel.
After the
meeting and agreement on certain points from both sides there seems
to be a significant development. “It is a very serious issue and it
seems Intel has started to work on the agreement between us. On July
28, 2011 Intel replaced 300 motherboards, which were awaited in
Kannur,” concluded Sankar.
