Intel has announced its fall Intel Channel Conference (ICC) for resellers and SIs, a comprehensive slate of training,
networking opportunities and third party vendor showcases that is expected to reach more than 10,000 channel program members in Asia Pacific and 20,000 globally, from October through November, 2002.Â
In India, Intel would host the ICC conferences in 14 cities across the country and one each in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. This
biennial conference was expanded last year to include product vendor participation.Â
This year, ICC has over 40 third party vendors actively participating in product showcases to demonstrate their latest products and technology. The ICC is broad-based training that provides the owners, managers and technical personnel from Sis and resellers with the most recent information on the state of the industry as well as Intel products, roadmaps and technology.Â
The fall ICC would include the introduction of new products from Intel for the channel, including microprocessors, desktop and server boards, networking and wireless products. For channel program members not able to attend the conference, voice enabled on-line training will be provided.
Intel Channel Programs help resellers and system builders integrate, service and sell Intel products. Members have access to many benefits, including financial rebates, sales coverage, private website, technical support, demo products, training, point-of-sale kits, co-operative advertising dollars and interactive marketing tools.Â
The Intel Innovative Technology Provider program lets businesses attain the benefits they need to recommend advanced wireless, converged communications and networking solutions. This program entitles members to training, which increases their technical knowledge. It also provides the resources, products and support solution providers can use to distinguish themselves as visionary providers.

Intel to recruit 2,000 more engineers
As part of its growth strategy, Intel has drawn plans to recruit 2,000 more engineers in three years, Manni Kantipudi, Director, Intel India Development Center (IIDC), stated. Kantipudi was in Pune to announce the third Intel Developer Forum (IDF) to be held in Mumbai at the end of this month.
"Mumbai would be hosting the IDF for the first time on the theme 'Advancing the Digital Universe' on October 29. This is the third IDF to be held within India within two years," he added.
IDF is a worldwide program that gives developers the technical information they need to succeed in creating innovative products for the Internet economy. The first two IDFs, which were held in Bangalore in the year 2001 and 2002 respectively, boasted of 600 and 700 attendees respectively.
The focus areas at the conference would be desktop and servers, networking communications, enabling software solutions.
The IDF conference is expected to be useful for HW/SW developers, Web developers, systems architecture network engineers and e-biz solution providers.
Referring to Intel's growth plans, Kantipudi said that the ASIC design series and the ultra wide band chip were emerging as the new businesses for Intel. Currently there are six design teams working on the ASIC design series. According to Kantipudi, it takes at least 16 to 18 months to design a chip.
In February 2001, around 40 people set up a whole lab and have already completed work on two chips, he revealed.
