Intel and Indian Railways introduce ‘on board’ Internet access

Intel Technologies India Pvt Ltd with support from Indian Railways has

announced India’s first ever in-train Inter-net access service. According to

the press release, the service is available aboard north India-bound Shatabadi

trains, covering seven cities in North India until January 28, 2004.

These Shatabadi’s will have a dedicated bogie with eight work stations

where passen-gers will be able to experience Intel P4 processor with

Hyper-Threading technology-based PCs and Intel Centrino mobile technology-based

notebooks.

The Intel-branded coach will host PC awareness workshops and feature

education and gaming zones. According to Sandeep Auroram, Channel Bu-siness

Manager, Intel Techno-logy India Pvt Ltd, "The value of time is important

to Indian business travelers. By introduc-ing PCs and Internet connec-tivity on

the participating Shatabadi trains, we aim to demonstrate how these great

business tools can allow business travelers to stay in touch with their

businesses and be productive while on the road. The initiative is part of Intel’s

extensive PC education efforts in India."

technology, desktop and notebook PCs, raise their queries and provide feedback.
