Ingram Showcase opens door for new businesses

Ingram Micro Showcase, probably the biggest event for resellers in the country, came to an end yesterday with some good signs. Around 29 vendors and more than 1,000 resellers from all across the country who were here to exchange ideas and learn from each other finally ended-up with having added some new partners in their business. They did not seem worried about the recession. They were here for business and they did.

With the announcement of "Buy anywhere, exchange anywhere" program, Ingram Micro has provided a perfect B2B platform for vendors and channel partners to transact and interact in its three-day long annual event. With the theme 'Shaping the future of technology', the showcase received an overwhelming response from across the country.

Inaugurating the event, Avtar Saini, Director (South Asia), Intel, said, "This show will be able to keep resellers informed about the products, making sure they understand the latest technology and to answer questions about what kind of tape drive is needed for their clients."

Although no major announcement of new launch was made but most of the vendors like Cisco, Compaq, Sapphire not only displayed their latest and upcoming products but also demonstrated them so that the resellers could get a touch and feel experience. Quantum and Lexmark launched their servers and printers respectively.

To make resellers and vendors informed about their business and activities happening in IT market, the talk shows were organized which were moderated by experts of the IT industry. The day's hangover was concluded by some music and entertainment by the local band in the evenings.

The resellers not only got the opportunity to experience and add global products to their portfolios but were also excited about the contests and offers organized by the vendor participants of the event. Apart from these contests, Ingram Micro had provided them with various exciting discounts and special schemes on some products.

Trend Micro announced special offers on PC-cillin, Neta Suite and Small Product which is a bundle of ServerProduct and OfficeScan. Veritas offered its high-end storage solutions at special prices. Lexmark's inkjet printers were available at discounted prices. Borland had offered a free copy of Jbuilder or Delphi or C++ Builder 6 Prof edition for every Borland product order worth Rs 1 lakh and above.

Pradip Kamath, VP (Marketing), Ingram Micro India Pvt Ltd, said, "This year Ingram Micro India has focussed on the upcoming opportunities and challenges in the next year for our channel partners with an emphasis on strengthening product portfolios and extensive channel growth."

Ingram Micro also announced three years local replacement program for Seagate and Maxtor hard disk drives sold by them.
