IMIL first held the event in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai in 1999.

In the year 2000, Calcutta was added to the list of the venues. This time around, a number of resellers are expected to attend the meet. The event is based on the theme, `Empowering Channels with Global technology'.

Speaking to CNS, PG Kamath, VP, IMIL, revealed that this would be the first time that event of such a magnitude would be a common meeting point for vendors, channels and the distributors. "This would provide a platform to address new channels and this would give all the participants a chance to discuss problems, success tips and other measures to improve business."

Besides a platform for profitable transactions, the thrust would be more on making it a complete branding event in terms of updating products, IT and vendor partners in other cities of the country. "We have made all facilities for online transactions.

We have hired the bandwidth of 64 KBPS. This will be dedicated for the use of all the participants," added Kamath.

Commenting on the problems faced by the Indian channels, he said that in India, interests rates are very high on credits which affects the investment in IT business. The other problem that affects investment is the margin erosion. "The event would also cover these two main problems to a greater extent through discussions, interactions and exposing the participants to the successful business models."

The event would also address the new marketing techniques to keep pace with the emerging new world economy. For the old resellers, the event would try to draw out strategies of maximizing margins, restructuring business model and providing value-added products to the customers.

Twenty-one vendors are sponsoring the event. The main sponsors include Samsung, Seagate and HP.
