In a bid to firmly entrench itself into the European market and in accordance with its expansion plans, Infotech Enterprises Europe has acquired Mapcentric. London-based Mapcentric is Europe's independent GIS distributor with a network of over 400 customers and distributors offering third party GIS applications, data and services.
"The acquisition of Mapcentric will now enable us to tap directly into the European market space which shows an increasing appetite for GIS software services such as those offered by Infotech. At this point of time it is not possible for us to disclose the financial details of the deal," said, BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman and MD, Infotech Enterprises India.
Mapcentric will operate as a separate business unit, forming the basis of a new Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME) division within Infotech. EAME division will be responsible for increasing Infotech's presence in key European markets by promoting it's range of GIS services through its partner base and enabling them to remain competitive in the changing European market. In addition, this division will continue to distribute key GIS applications.
Since its acquisition by Infotech Enterprises India, Infotech Europe has experienced a significant growth and has introduced a range of new services to its existing GIS client base.
