In its bid to catch up with others states when it comes to attracting invest-ment,
UP is all set to experience a gathering full of industry captains at Kanpur.
Industry bigwigs such as CK Prahalad, Rajat Gupta, Kanwal Rekhi, Kiran
Mazumdar Shaw, Swati Piramal and Nikhil Gan-dhi are likely to grace the
occa-sion during UP calling meet at Kanpur, which would be orga-nized on
February 20 and February 21.
The event will be organi-zed by The industry Entre-preneurs (TiE) Uttar
Pradesh chapter in association with UP development council and NASSCOM and is
likely to be attended by entrepreneurs, professionals and academi-cians in
different streams from all over the country. The prime objective of the event
would be to attract invest-ment and showcase entre-preneur opportunities in the
state.
"Despite the fact that UP is one of the highly populated states of the
country, there are not many big industrial units in the manufacturing and IT
sector. So, ideally an event like this would trigger the invest-ment process and
highlight UP as an industry-friendly state in the country," informed a
source close to the government mac-hinery on conditions of anonymity.
Chief minister of the state Mulayam Singh Yadav is likely to inaugurate the
event. The event would also provide a platform where efforts will be made to
potential investors to invest in the state and create employment opportunities
for the state populace. The event would also have a conference, which will
provide a forum for interaction between the inte-llectual talent within UP and
other parts of the country as well.
Professors and faculties of institutes like IIT Kanpur, Banaras Hindu
University and IIM Lucknow are likely to converge at the event to deliver
lectures on technical and business related topics.
