Indus entrepreneur chapter launched in Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh government has adopted an IT Act which ensures maximum facilities for the entrepreneurs. O N Vaid, Principal Secretary, IT, UP Government, stated this, while participating in the launch of the Indus Entrepreneur (TIEUP) Chapter at the UPSIDC auditorium. The chapter has been launched by the concerted efforts of IIT Kanpur alumni, NRIs and bureaucrats.

Later addressing the gathering, A P Singh, Industrial Development Commissioner, assured the entrepreneurs that land and other infrastructure for cyber city and IIT would be provided as the maiden step. Pavan Nigam, Co-founder of Heltheon\Web charter member, TIE, who has played a vital role of bringing TIE to UP while deliberating on the phenomenal success of the Indians in the US, also spoke on the steady decline of the industries in India.

He expressed concern over the digital divide that has left some states behind in the race. He said UP had the right ingredients to succeed in the IT arena and lauded the attempt of Kanpur to revitalize the city.

Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary IT, UP said that the government was acting fast to assume the role of a facilitator. He added that the required infrastructure was already generated in the city and a newly established gateway by VSNL with an investment of Rs 45 crore and world class facilities were available at the STP.

Kanwal Rekhi, former President, TIE and Angel Investor, US spoke of grassroots level movements of India's tradition and said that India was at the threshold of economic freedom. He also informed that there is one Indian professor out of every 10 US professors in US universities and one doctor in every seven, which proves that the Indians were successful there. Others who addressed the meet were A K Bajaj and Gopal Sutwala.
