For the first time in Madhya Pradesh, the air passen-gers will be able to use
their laptop and palmtop in the Indore airport premises, thanks to the Wi-Fi
internet service being provided by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL).
Through Wi-Fi Internet service, BSNL will provide Internet access to the air
passengers at Indore Airport. Passengers can use their laptops and palmtops
without any extra charges.
The Wi-Fi Internet service was inaugurated by GC Mishra, CGM, MP circle, BSNL
where James Williams Natal Director, Indore Airport, AK Nigam, GM, Indore and
other BSNL and Airports officials were also present. Based on the
IEEE-80211-B-protocol technique, the Wi-Fi Internet service is the first such
service in the state and the second among the domestic airports after Pune.
Speaking on the occasion, Mishra said that the passengers could use their
laptops and palmtops at a radius of 100 meters around the airport. BSNL will
also install one PC at the airport for those passengers who do not carry laptops
or palmtops with them. "Besides, BSNL will launch the broadband facility in
Indore next month and has spent about Rs 20,000 for this project," Mishra
further informed.
Speaking on the occasion Natal said that passengers have to spend one hour on
average at the airport. "By launching this facility, the passengers can
make good use of the time," he opined.
