Autodesk, Inc, a design and digital content creation company, has announced a
successful raid on Zee Interactive Learning Systems Ltd, an IT and Multimedia
company’s education arm, after the Bombay High Court awarded a court order
against the company.
With the cooperative efforts of the Police Force, the raid on seven premises,
six in Mumbai and one in Delhi, resulted in the seizure of 40 hard disks
containing illegal versions of AutoCAD, Autodesk Architectural Desktop and
Autodesk 3D Studio Max valued at Rs 76 lakh.
“This is a large IT and Multimedia academy that has invested time, money
and resources in developing their courseware which are then franchised to other
training schools,” said André Pravaz, Regional Director (South Asia Pacific
region), Autodesk. “They should understand and respect intellectual property
rights,” he added.
“This effort is part of our ‘Zero Tolerance’ drive against piracy,”
said Stuart Ong, Legal Counsel (Asia Pacific), Autodesk.
“We will continue to work with the Indian authorities to educate the market
on Intellectual Property Rights, and the adverse consequence of allowing piracy
to exist in our society,” he said.
