“Directions09 will examine all the ways the world of IT and communications
is changing-from globalization to virtualization, from software as a service (SaaS)
to services as software, from changing network technology to the technology of
social networks, and how those changes will affect customers, suppliers and IT
marketers,” said Sanjit Sinha, Head-Research, IDC India.

The session on economic environment will address questions like: With the US
economy under pressure, will India's growth story be sustainable; if the
government of the day changes, would the economic growth scenario be adversely
impacted; will the RBI and finance ministry be able to contain inflation while
allowing cheap credit to be channelized to growth sectors of the economy; etc.

A specific session on adoption of technology products will dwell on how
spending will be driven by the value that the consumer perceives in an age of
choices with respect to connectivity and access devices. Besides that a session
on emerging enterprises will dwell on strategies to cater to the needs of these
enterprises that have the potential to grow at a much higher rate. The key will
be to watch the sectors that have the appetite to absorb technology with higher
propensity.
