Mumbai, Oct 18
IBM has launched its operations in Nashik to provide support
to its SME clients in and around the city.
"SMEs are growth engines of the Indian economy, and we
are committed to providing them with access to the right information, tools and
technologies that helps them succeed," said Chetan Naik, VP-Global
Mid-Market Business, India and South Asia, IBM.
The move is a part of the company's regional expansion
strategy. Last year, IBM had announced a plan to extend its presence to 14
cities outside the metros. So far, it has launched operations in Bhopal,
Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Goa, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Lucknow, Nagpur, and Vizag.
IBM will expand operations in four additional cities
including Surat, Bhubaneswar, Madurai and Ludhiana in the coming months.
IBM's recently announced IBM Express Advantage initiative
provides SMEs with a unified end-to-end approach to help them innovate and
expand.
In India, IBM has also introduced the SME toolkit, a free
program that enables entrepreneurs and small businesses to learn how to
implement sustainable business management practices needed for growth in areas
such as finance, accounting, international business, marketing, human resources
and legal.
