IBM India increases server price

IBM India has revised its server rates by withdrawing some of the freebies and increasing prices of select bundles.

The Indian price of IBM System x3650 M4 Express has gone up to Rs 2,13,000 from Rs 202,300 in August 2013.

Though IBM did not change the price of IBM Storwize V3700 bundle server, it withdrew the Rs 1 lakh free software with the IBM Storwize V3700 bundle server. The Rs 1 lakh free software offer was available in August last year.

IBM System x3500 M4 will be priced at Rs 165,350.

IBM India has become aggressive in the India pricing strategy after HP regained the number 1 position in the global server market with 28.1 percent revenue share in the third quarter of 2013.

Enterprise IT vendor IBM posted 19.4 percent decline in revenue and moved to the number 2 position in the global server market. IBM's server market share is 23.4 percent.

IDC noted that soft demand for System x and Power Systems resulted in loss of 4.5 points of factory revenue share for IBM.
