Chennai-based Inter Business Factory India (IBFI) has singed an agreement with the Ministry of Education & Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Bilim, Kazakhstan's education center and technopark, to implement its Student Information System (SIS) in 8000 government schools across the country.
Beating three international companies vying for the plum project, IBFI bagged the $ 1.5 million project that spans 8000 schools and 2.8 million students, thereby making it one of the largest deals struck by an Indian company in the field of education.
"Kazakhstan is a great opportunity for us and this is a milestone for IBFI in the field of education. And a significant stepping-stone to several other projects we hope to implement for the other CIS, Middle East and South Asian countries," said Fareed Ahmed, CEO,
IBFI.
The implementation of IBFI's Student Information System (SIS) will be undertaken in a phased manner, where in the first phase, IBFI will network and SIS-enable 20 schools by March 2002, and in the second phase, which extends from April 2002 to March 2003, IBFI will implement the same in 7980 schools.
IBFI's SIS platform involves the integration of communication between the management, teachers, students and parents, to enhance the quality of interaction and information flow in educational institutions. The platform will allow a centralized educational system with all processes automated and streamlined. The SIS platform enables further upgradation and scalability to bundle and incorporate newer technologies with ease in a very cost effective way.
Back home, IBFI has successfully implemented its SIS at the Mohammed Sathak Engineering College in Kilakarai, near Chennai this month, covering more than 2000 students. The implementations across the other institutions in Tamil Nadu under the Mohammed Sathak Trust will cover 4000 students. The company is also in the final stages of negotiations with New Era Public School, New Delhi.
