Reinstating its plans for expansion in Orissa upcountry, Behrampore-based IBC
Systems inaugurated its fifth showroom in Ganjam in South Orissa, expanding its
reach to the technical colleges.
This multi-bland outlet was inaugurated by Dr Pradeep Panigrahi, MLA of the
same district. Primarily laptops and desktops were showcased here. Besides the
range of IT products, it also caters to the sales of consumer electronics'
products and mobile phones.
“As part of our development plans to reach to districts of southern Orissa,
the new showroom is an initiative to tap the vast potential of the engineering
colleges based in this location. The showroom is based on the concept of IT Mall
where we would like to focus on the entire consumer electronics range,” said
Balakrishna Sahu, Proprietor, IBC Systems.
The area and nearby Gajpati district have eight engineering colleges such as
JITM, GIIT, MIST and EIETA. Focussed to capture the interest of the student
community, IBC plans to tap the education sector across southern Orissa. IBC has
already supplied IT equipment including laptops and desktops in all major
engineering and management colleges in the region and is about to implement
W-LAN project in JITM by the end of this year.
“Even though we have presence in sub-distribution business, yet our prime
focus is on retail and corporate clients. Retail provides flexibility of
decisions and is lucrative in the state. Also, with steady supply and stocks, we
are on our move to tap the corporate segment also,” Sahu added.
Founded in 2002 with a meagre capital of Rs 50,000, IBC Systems has made its
presence felt across five major upcountry locations in south Orissa. The company
focuses both on retail and sub-destribution. IBC is a sub-distributor for the
IPG range of laptops for HP and Compaq for south Orissa.
In the age of the global slowdown, south Orissa and particularly the
upcountry market down south has registered a staggering growth percentage.
Dealers in state suggested that Ganjam, Behrampore, Gajpati and the neighbouring
districts are having a go ahead primarily owing to the presence of engineering
colleges and the booming enterprise and mills sector. It is reported that over
500 IT units are sold in Ganjam alone on a MoM basis in the end-user segment
while the number crosses 1,000 in case of the enterprise vertical.
