Hyundai Electronics Industries Co Ltd has now been renamed Hynix Semiconductor Inc, Korea. Company's semiconductor division was spun off early this month. To strengthen its operations and direct marketing presence in Indian market, the company has opened its office in New Delhi in April and is now planning to open a new office in Bangalore soon.
The company will utilize it's existing facilities in the non memory products, such as Application Specific Integrated circuits, MPEG chip technology, Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) and Flash memories to strengthen it's position.
Speaking on the occasion DJ Won, MD, Hynix Semiconductor Inc, South Asia operations said, "The new company will focus on semiconductor market worldwide." He also said that the reason for this shift is to reduce dependence on fluctuating DRAM market and convergence of IT and Telecom that has given impetus to the demand of SRAM and Flash memories.
He further added, "India is a strong emerging market and Hynix is focused and committed to develop Indian market."
As a part of the strategy Hynix, Singapore operations will have direct presence in India. Won emphasized on the fact that for Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) and any product development, the company would welcome Indian entrepreneur to join hands.
Presently Hynix has technology relationships with some large Indian OEM's such as HCL Infosystems, Wipro Infotech, Zenith Computers and PCs industries. The company has two distributors in India namely Karma Distribution, Singapore and SB Component Pvt Ltd, Mumbai.
