HP has taken the leadership position in external disk storage and total disk
storage revenue in Q3 2004 with a market share of 44.5 percent of the Terabytes
sold in the Indian market. Accord-ing to the latest Interna-tional Data
Corporation (IDC) reports, in the external disk storage market, HP has recorded
a mar-ket share of 29.3 percent in ter-ms of revenue and 40 percent in terms of
capacity. According to the report, HP had a share of 30.7 percent of the total
network storage (SAN & NAS) market in terms of revenue.
"The result of this quarter consolidates our position in the Indian
market. We are achieving the targets we set and since our results are consistent
with our strategy and new product offer-ings, we are looking to continue this
momentum in the future," said Avijit Basu, Country Manager, Storage-Works
Divi-sion, HP India.
In Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), HP's External Storage market share stood
at 23.9 percent and for total storage, HP garnered 26 percent of the market
share. According to IDC, in terms of Gigabyte capacity, HP is ahead of its
competitors with 35.6 percent of the market share in External storage in APJ.
