With a strategy that focuses on the consu-mer, Hewlett Packard has once again
emerged winner across various consumer product categories as reported by the
latest Q3 results of The International Data Center (IDC). Leading the race were
HP laser printers, All in ones, consumer desktops and notebooks.
In the laser printer category, HP reported a 75 percent market share. While
the industry grew by nine percent, HP's market share increased by 12 percent.
Most notable was the increase in share of monolasers in the 21-30 ppm space
where HP captured a market share of 90 percent as against 66 percent share in
the previous quarter.
In the consumer notebook category too, HP retained its Numero Uno position
and recorded a 29 percent growth as against the market growth of 25 percent. The
Q3 notebook market share closed at 36 percent recording a 1 percent increase
over the previous quarter. HP's share of the consumer desktop seg-ment was
maintained at 33 percent. HP Inkjet All in ones grew by one percent to capture
88 percent market share while HP scanners retained its market share of 52
percent.
Speaking on the growth and HP's consistent perfor-mance, Ravi Aggarwal, VP,
HP Imaging and Printing Group said, "HP's continued domi-nance in the
