As part of Adaptive Enterprise vision of standardizing its platform, Hewlett
Packard announced the expan-sion of its server portfolio by adopting Itanium 2
processors for the high-end NonStop servers. These new Integrity NonStop line of
servers will offer customers better than mainframe-class service levels with the
flexibility and benefits of an industry-standard architecture. The highly
scalable and absolutely fault tolerant NonStop servers are capable of managing
high volume online transactions backed by outstanding per-formance and security.
These servers will offer 2.5 times additional perfor-mance with respect to
current generation systems based on MIPS processors. The new 64-Bit NonStop
server offers the best price in its class and supports a number of open source
software applications. The server has also raised the bar for business
continuity by offering optional levels of availability with dual and triple
modular redundancy. This redundancy option offers an unprecedented seven 9s
(99.99999 percent) level of availability and 100-fold reduction of risk.
"The real time environment capability of the architecture adds
intelligence in the system through correlation and pattern recognition making
the servers very suitable for defence and homeland secu-rity. They allow us to
address CRM opportunities that offer single view of the customer," said
Hemant Tiwari, Director, Enterprise Servers and Storage, Hewlett Packard India
Sales Pvt Ltd.
