HP has claimed leadership position in the worldwide notebook PC market, while
further strengthening its leadership position in India with 33.8 percent market
share, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC).
HP's unit ship-ments for the notebook seg-ment worldwide grew nearly 21
percent quar-ter over quar-ter, almost 1.4 times the industry growth rate,
according to the analyst firm's fourth quarter analysis. Additionally, the
company's quarter-over-quarter growth rate was more than five times its
nearest competitor's.
Speaking on HP's perfor-mance in India, Ravi Swami-nathan, VP Personal
Systems Group VP, HP India Sales Pvt Ltd said, "HP continues to strive in
the direction of providing superior products, enhanced reach, and excellent
after sales service even in the B and c cities. We had a series of new launches
this year wherein we offered superior product proposition across various
segments. This in addition to our unparalleled PAN India service network and
superior post sales service has contributed to the consistent growth and success
of the company in the notebook space."

the market in this high-growth segment while also incre-asing
