HP and CoE Patna hosts Thin Client Solutions for SMB

of Excellence (CoE), Patna recently showcased the Thin Client and
Multiseat Solution addressing the vertical. Co-hosted by Microsoft,
the software solutions major all took the opportunity to host its
MultiPoint Server 2010 edition, catering specifically to the needs of
the education vertical.

Kumar Choudhary, Chief Information Commissioner, Bihar at Hotel
Maurya, the event was addressed to increase awareness about the
benefits of the elements of virtualization specifically in the
education sector. Speaking over the campaign, Choudhary said, “Bihar
is poised to be in the forefront of IT. We need to focus on creating
a pool of talented workforce that is capable of handling the
challenges of the growing needs of the businesses, influenced by
global competitive environment.” About 80 top officials and
representatives from various government departments, universities,
colleges and corporate houses witnessed the technology showcase and
participated in the interactive session during the event.

Sharing
his
thoughts about the campaign, PK Sinha, CEO, Centre of Excellence
said, “These product shares the resources of one computer and can
be extended up to five, saving huge cost in terms of capital
investment, recurring cost and energy conservation in a big way which
is in line of our Go Green Mission.” “To supplement the
initiative of the state we have created an ICT knowledge and
technology infrastructure for training, utilizing relevant and
appropriate technology and a large pool of talented workforce under
PPP,” he added.

CoE was set-up with the intention to bridge the yawning gap between
the demand and supply of local skills and technology by training and
interface. “It is a step towards bringing technology at the mouse
click with video conference, broadband and 3G Network and thereby

India scenario,” Sinha concluded.

network. These solid-state devices connect over a network to a server
where the bulk of the processing takes place. Thin clients have no
hard drive, allowing for more secure storage of data and applications
on the server.

connect to servers via Web browsers or remote desktop software.
Depending on the functionality the user needs, client desktops can be
very simple single-application kiosks or a flexible and familiar
