HCL recommended for ISO 14001 Certification

HCL Infosystems Ltd (HCL Insfosys), a technology integration company has been recommended by BVQI for the prestigious ISO-14001 certification. HCL is the first Indian IT company to be recommended for the coveted certification.

The ISO-14001 is the standard for Environmental Management System under which a company evaluates the impact on society and environment due to its activities and products. EMS helps companies to approach environmental issues systematically and integrate environmental protection steps as a part of their day to day operations and business strategy. 

Speaking on the occasion, George Paul, GM, Marketing, HCL Infosystems Ltd, said, "Achieving this certification demonstrates our commitment towards sustainable development with environmental care. It establishes the soundness of our environment systems and confirms our commitment towards society as a responsible corporate citizen." 

This international standard specifies requirements for an environmental management system, to enable an organization to formulate a policy and objectives taking into account legislative requirements and information about significant environmental impacts. All the requirements in this international standard are intended to be incorporated into any environmental management system. 

The extent of application will depend on such factors as the environment policy of the organization, the nature of its activities and the conditions in which it operates.
