HCL Peripherals, a leading IT peripheral and networking solution provider, has embarked on an ambitious game plan where it would move from manufacturing information kiosks to interactive kiosks in the market. The company is going all out to make it successful and it is in the process of signing deals with major service providers including BSNL, MTNL and with fashion makers and jewelry designers.
"We have already developed some products to the clients and installed them on a pilot study basis. We would work with them closely and do it on a large scale shortly," said S Pattabiraman, Executive Vice President, HCL Peripherals.
Meanwhile, HCL Peripherals is expanding its other product ranges and one of the new areas where it would venture soon is UPS business.
"HCL will target the entry-level market first with its 600 VA UPS. The HCL UPS will have all features that are available in the market (including automatic shutdown software) but our winning point could be the price. Our product is to be priced very competitively and it will be launched in the next two months," he said.
The company is also expanding its reach and plans to appoint 200 more authorized channel partners in South India in the next few months. "Our major focus would be expanding reach in down south markets including smaller cities and towns. In Tamil Nadu, we are concentrating on markets such as Trichy, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Erode, Salem, to name a few," said
Pattabiraman.
HCL is also coming out with point of sales machines which are integrated and network ready units. In networking, the company has recently launched hi-speed remote access servers with 460 Kbps speed. "We are focusing on banking, educational, insurance and government sectors where networking is gaining more importance," he said.
HCL Peripherals has registered a turnover of Rs 120 crore last year and targets Rs 150 crore by fiscal ending June 2003.
