HCL Infosystems, which now primarily focuses on products distribution business after the rejig last month, is now betting big on its distribution network to cater to its three segment viz., telecom, IT and consumer and home appliances (CHA).
"We have focused IT enabled warehouses with 24 hours delivery facility dotted across the country, covering almost 600 plus districts," mentions Sutikshan Naithani, who currently heads the distribution business at HCL Infosystems. He adds that the company will add seven more warehouses for an effective distribution network.
"We also have the expertise of dealing directly with the factories, and both inbound and outbound operational excellencies. We are investing lot of resources and efforts to create last mile distribution in the remotest part of this country," Naithani added further.
On mapping the demands, he mentioned that the company has invested in establishing a large team to develop product wise complete demand planning.
Telecom (handsets) distribution is the usual stronghold of this company with only one brand in its portfolio-Nokia. Reports suggest that 80% of the distribution revenue comes from this segment.
But, Naithani feels that with the increase in the momentum of non-telecom distribution business, IT and CHA will become quite sizeable. Moreover, Telecom and IT combined contributes around Rs 6000 crore top line to the distribution business.
