HCL InfiNet launches services in Chennai

HCL InfiNet announced the launch of its value added Internet services in Chennai. The service which is already available in Delhi and Mumbai will soon be made available across India in 42 cities in the next three months making HCL InfiNet one of the largest ISP's in India.

The charges for a 10 hours access pack is Rs 99 going up to Rs 2,999 for one year unlimited access. The services comes with the promise of delivering the committed Quality of Services (QoS) and Committed Information Rates (CIR), backed by its investments in best-in-class technologies.

The entire infrastructure is designed for an enhanced users experience and includes state of the art ATM/ Frame relay based network across 42 locations. HCL InfiNet estimates that the B2B market in India will grow from $ 15 million in 1999-2000 to over $ 180 million by the year 2002. The company plans to invest upto Rs 125 crore and is targeting a subscriber base of over 100,000 within a year. A major share of this is expected to come from the existing relationships of HCL Infosystems with more than 5000 corporates in India. 

The strategic intent of HCL InfiNet is to move up the value chain of service offerings, starting with basic services such as consumer access, hosting and co-location and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) leading to advanced services such as Application Service Provider (ASP) services and B2B digital exchange networks.

HCL InfiNet offers many value-added services including a centralized round-the-clock customer support helpdesk and a Network Operations Centre to provide pre-emptive customer care. HCL InfiNet offers a high bandwidth service backbone, an international standard port to subscriber ratio and fiber optic connections for the last mile at major locations. The entire network is voice-enabled and convergence ready. Other unique service features that HCL InfiNet will offer through its global alliances are national and international roaming access and a secure payment gateway. The company will soon be announcing several other tie-ups in the areas of travel, entertainment, music, etc with domestic and international players.
