Haier forays into Indian mobile handset market

Chinese home appliance brand-Haier Appliance has ventured into the Indian

mobile handset market by introducing seven models for the Indian market.

"We think that this is the right time for a brand like us to enter the

Indian market. Our good quality and style will attract customers towards our

products in India," explained TK Banerjee. President and CEO, Haier

Appliances India Pvt Ltd.

The range of mobiles launched by the company includes entry-level phones like

the Z 100 with a standby time of 18 days. "This model comes with a free

headset with FM radio and is priced at Rs 3,654. We are also launching high-end

models like the first pen phone with 300k pixel camera and dicta phone, which is

priced at Rs 14,940. These kind of phones will certainly attract customers'

attention as they are not being offered by any vendor as of now," he added.

As part of its marketing eff-orts, the company has already appointed Trust

telecom as its national distributor for the Indian region. "Trust telecom

is our national distributor in the region and together we are looking forward to

appointing state-wise area distributors for our mobiles," Banerjee added.

The handsets launched by the company include models like V 100 priced at Rs

7,614, V 200 priced at Rs 9,495, Z 100 priced at Rs 3,654, Z 300 priced at Rs

4,950, Z 1100 priced at Rs 9,099, Z 3000 priced at Rs 6,480 and P7, which is

priced at Rs 14,940.
