GPS: Hot selling technology during Computex '08

Global positioning systems (GPS) products were hot items at Computex Taipei
2008. To fulfill GPS product buyers' multiple requirements, 'Cartronics
Pavilion' was arranged for one-stop shopping for all kinds of GPS products, even
for Telematics industries. The Cartronics Pavilion that was set-up for
consecutive three years, is increasing in scale each year. This year, it had 32
exhibition booths. Buyers could find tiny GPS modules, multi-function bluetooth
GPS dongles, personal GPS loggers, pocket-sized GPS trackers, waterproof
automatic vehicle location (AVL) devices, GPS dongles for marine environment,
customized PND, and in-dash 1/2-DIN car navigation boxes at Cartronics pavilion.

NCSNavi Technology Inc showcased its new in-car GPS navigation with 2-DIN
seven-inch display touch-screen functions. It can be custom made for automobile
companies.

Sheng Jay Automation Technologies showcased its Marine AIS transponder
SJ-8912RT, which is as compact in size that it can be placed anywhere on ship,
easy to install, standard NEMA 0183 output suitable for any Marine plot
software, providing real-time AIS Info for collision avoidance and integrated
with GPS information to show your own location.

Apart from these, San Jose Navigation, Inc also showcased its MT-101, the
smallest GPS tracker in the world, which is SIRF III inside, light and portable,
SOS button for emergency use, programmable auto report, and geofence available.
With small in size and light in weight, MT-101 is best for various applications
including sport tracing, child tracking and vehicle management.

HAICOM Electronics Corp displayed its GPS receiver and GPS/GSM real-time
tracker, HI-601VT. With HI-601VT GPS/GSM tracker, users can track, remote
control, tapping any object globally in real time by using any regular SIM card
(with one phone number), any regular phone and any local mapping software or
Google Earth. No special software is needed for it. Because HI-601VT is small in
size and main unit come with the big capacity rechargeable battery, it is also
suitable for personal tracking. On the HI-601VT, one can press the 'panic
button' and HI-601VT will instantly dial back to the preset telephone numbers.

A host of other companies like Navisys Technology Corporation that showcased
its new GPS module for PND, tracker, locator, GM-318A, which is ultra slim GPS
module for navigator and handheld applications; eBon Technologies Inc that
showcased its 65 channels USB Dongle GPS receiver EDU-731F, which is built-in
Sky Traq chipset, log GPS data by time interval/distance/speed limit, and 2MB
memory for 10,000 way point record and eRaytec International Inc, which
showcased its AVTS-3000, a vehicle tracking and dispatch system, utilized the
Computex Taipei 2008 as a platform for their product launches in the GPS
category.
