Delhi-based Global Infosystems has launched Texsolv, a software package targeted at garments and textile exporters enabling users to have complete control over the functioning of the organization. Priced at Rs 2.5 lakh and targeted at exporters within the NCR region, the product can be customized to cater to the needs of the highly specialized manufacturing segment.

Says CL Agrawal, MD, Global, "We have a highly focussed target segment and have designed the product keeping the focus segment in mind. Even within the textile exporters, the needs of a leather garments manufacturer could be vastly different from those of a handicrafts exporters and therefore a lot of customization is required." It is also a well-known fact that ERP majors like SAP failed miserably in the country as it was not able to cater to the specific needs of segments keeping local conditions in mind.

Global Solutions, a five-year-old start-up, which has worked on projects in various aspects of the industry has extensive experience with the textile and garment export market. It is this experience that the company has packaged into the product which officials feels is the edge that it has above its competitors.

Add to that is the fact that the company is targeting the product at a highly specified segment-the garment and textile manufacturers and exporters with a turnover of Rs 5 crore. Interestingly there are few companies offering products to companies in that turnover range. Adds Aggarwal, "There are a few hundred textile and garment exporters in the NCR region and that itself is a huge customer base." So the company at present is not even targeting the national market.

Another initiative of the company is its online education, www.webgurukul.com-a space that has lately caught the fancy of every training and education major. But Aggrawal has definitive plans, which he says will beat the rest. One differentiator is that webgurukul.com

in alliance with American Institute of Management technology will offer degree courses, which very few online initiatives do. It has also signed up with Delhi-based Fore School of management to supplement the curriculum. The alliance here will see Global Systems scan all the course material of Fore School and make it available online so that students read up on the material and the interaction with the teachers could be more gainfully used. Besides, there will also be specialized online courses available to the students of Fore School.

Webgurukul has two clear initiatives on its online education front. While currently, the company is focussing on developing its courses on management, at a later stage, webgurukul will also offer courses in specialized areas of IT. Agrawal is confident that its online initiative will start making profits after two years since he is convinced he has put the right strategies in place.
