Pooja Sharma New Delhi, Oct 11
After much delay and dissatisfaction amongst the dealer
community, the Ghaziabad Computer Association finally wrapped up their election
procedures on Oct 6. While Arun Kakkar of Nutek Computers was unanimously
elected as the President of the newly formed managing committee, Gopal Sharma of
Apson Computers was appointed as the Secretary. The other office bearers include
Vivek Singhal of Computer Care (VP), Shishir Agarwal of ASRG International
(Treasurer) and Sanjeev Mittal of Zee Enterprises (Joint Secretary).
Informing about the delay, Kakkar said that the elections were
supposed to be held in April, but due to various reasons, it was delayed, which
in turn was affecting their business considerably. A total of 40 dealers
participated in the election procedure.
When asked about the major issues he would address in his new
role, Kakkar said, "The biggest concern for me is to increase the number of
members in the association from 40 to at least 120. Prior to the elections, we
had roughly 80 dealers who were part of the association, but owing to less
activities and delayed elections, a considerable number of them discontinued
their membership."

Besides, Kakkar is also keen on holding meetings on a regular
basis, so that issues concerning dealers can be taken up. Kakkar also informed
that a number of companies like Samsung, HP and Intex, among others, had opened
their service centers in Ghaziabad, which was saving them a lot of service
issues. However, they are planning to hold discussions with Seagate, to request
the company to open a service center in Ghaziabad as well.
