KYE has launched digital cameras and digital video camcorder under its brand

name Genius. The company has launched cameras in the range of 6.2 to 10MP and

video camcorders in 5MP range. Sandeep Ramani, Country Manager-OBM Sales

Division, KYE Systems Group said that the cameras aren't for professional

photographers and are targeted at the mass customers. The digital cameras of

Genius are ECD-based and the video camcorders are CMOS-based.

On the other hand, the company has enhanced its product portfolio on a large

scale and has launched a series of new solutions for segments like

mini-notebook, human touch, entertainment accessories, drawing and

communication. The vendor showcased its new range of products including digital

cameras and camcorders in the recently concluded Computex 2009 in Taiwan. The

new range of products include speakers, mouse, headphones, tablets, digital

photo frame, keyboards, webcams, notebook accessories and gaming products.

Ramani attributed the enhancement of product range to the increase in buying

power among the customers. “We have enhanced our whole range of product

portfolio this time, as the buying power of the people has increased. We want to

convey that Genius is not only about mice and keyboards but also other products.

We would also be adding more number of products into our portfolio on a regular

basis,” he claimed.

According to Ramani, the market for peripherals has been growing as the

expected PC penetration has not taken place in the country. “On the other hand,

the accessories market has also been growing due to increase in the sales of

laptops. With both the PC and laptop markets growing at its own pace, the

channel is going to have a huge opportunity in the peripherals and consumer

electronics space.”

Genius has also enhanced its gaming segment with the launch of Wireless Trio

Racer, Twin Wheel 900FF and KB-G235, as the company is finding the gaming

segment getting matured in India. Ramani said that the market is growing on

month-on-month basis and requires more products for the segment.

Genius is educating the channel through regular dealer meets and the company

is updating its channels on the available range of products through mailing

activities. “Indian channels as well as customers have accepted Genius as a

quality product and our pricing has also been very attractive. We have six

service centers across major cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata,

Hyderabad, Benguluru and Chennai for taking care of the warranty issues,”

informed Ramani.
