Chennai-based Gemini Communication Ltd, a public-listed
network-ing company with a turnover of Rs 120 crore, is taking a three-pronged
approach in business to more than double its turnover, in the next couple of
years.
The company aims to gross Rs 300 crore revenue by 2008 and
to make this happen, it is focusing on solutions, prod-ucts and service. “We

is mainly taking care of the RFID initiatives of the company. “We have
introduced our own brand of readers, antennas, tags and software, which is
really doing well in the market. Last year, we achieved a turnover of Rs 3.5
crore from this new division, and export business alone contributed to Rs 40
lakh. We have provided solutions to many organization here,” he said.
This month, the company floated another new company called
Vatsa Networks, which is primarily into channel business. “As we started to
bring in our own brand of products, we thought channel would be the best option
to reach the length and breadth of this country. We will go only with select
channel partners in the market, who have good knowledge in networking and
solutions. Under Vatsa, we have recently introduced our wireless and broadband
products called Vzip and Vegha respectively. Vmax is the wi-max product which is
in the pipeline,” he elaborated.
In another major development, Gemini has joined hands with
Sahasra Solutions Pvt Ltd to form a joint venture company called Sanat
Technologies. Sanat is developing storage products such as NAS and IP-SAN, which
will be rolled out shortly. “We are talking to Intel for building solution
around their platform and IP-SAN is the technology to bet with, since it offers
cost-effective and quality solution for the users,” said VS Vasan, Director
& CEO of Sahasra.
Gemini Communications is also setting up a NOC (network
operating center) and SNOC (security-based NOC) in the city to provide remote
