Along with the recent
launch of the 'All About Me' card project with
Axis Bank in India, Gemalto, which provides
telecommunications, financial services, e-government identity and
access management, has planned to expand its channel network in
India. “With the expansion of the Gemalto's channel partner
network, the company wants to leverage more business opportunities
and aim to provide our partners with adequate support, enabling them
to develop solutions that effectively meet customers' growing needs
and demands,” said Nimish Swarup, VP-POS Asia & Secure
Transactions, Gemalto India.
In the 'All About Me'
project, Gemalto provides a unique solution, where the banks' premium
customers have the option of having their favorite picture being made
the face of the card. This makes the customer identify more with that
particular card. This innovation allows banks to provide a single
card that delivers both payment and increased security for online
transactions, according to the company. Speaking on the importance of
channel partners for enriching the company's business, Swarup said,
“We classify them as distributor, reseller, VAR and SIAs. Our
channel partners are very significant for the growth of our business,
we want to develop channel base further in the India market as our
channel partners should efficiently service the end customer.”
Gemalto has three
business units, Telecom, Security and Secure Transactions. In India,
only Security Business Unit operates through channel partners.
However, for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, the company operates with
channel partners for other business units as well. “We can see that
government in India is actively driving implementation of the
e-citizen services like e-identity card, e-driving license,
e-passport and e-health card. We expect this grow in this market with
robust demand for wireless and digital security products and related
applications,” informed Swarup.
