It has been months since the election committee of Ghaziabad
Computer Association (GCA) has been planning to conduct its elections but every
time due to various reasons the elections have been postponed. The elections
were last held in 2005.

Association members are divided over the reason for the
postponement and also showed reluctance in disclosing the exact issue.

Rajesh Gogia, MD, Sun Systems said that there were various
issues that were hampering the elections, but he refused to elaborate.

According to some members of the association there were
disparities regarding different subjects, which caused ego clashes. Hence
members could not unite on a single decision. They expressed that politics and
ego clashes had compelled members to show disinterest in the activities of the
association.

According to the election
committee, the delay is due to practical reasons whereas members are
terming it as politics and ego clashes

"There was some misunderstanding among members and it was
necessary to remove all the differences because only then could we have a
friendly environment in the association. Now the issue has been resolved and the
elections will probably take place shortly," expressed Vijaya Bamba, Member-Election
Committee, GCA.

However, even after giving complete assurance of holding the
elections on April 1, 2007, for which the circulars had also been circulated,
the elections were not held.

Giving a clarification for this, Bamba said, "There are no
issues as such for the delay except for some genuine reasons. However, members
have started losing interest in the election."

Throwing light on the issue, LN Singhal, Member-Election
Committee, GCA said, "There were some disputes among the previous body that
caused friction in the governing body. We always wanted that everyone should be
considered as one in the association and everyone should get a chance to be
heard. The issues have been almost resolved now and we are sure that the
election will be conducted."

According to members it is due to the inert behavior of the
committee that is delaying the whole event. "Nobody is ready to take the
initiative and the elections are getting postponed for no reason. Members are
attracted by the high designations in the association but they do not want to
take the responsibility. People responsible for carrying out the elections do
not have the confidence to go ahead and take any initiatives," expressed a
member on the condition of anonymity.

Another member of GCA said that for the last one and a half
years, the association had not done anything except for calling meetings. No
concrete decisions were taken and now it was imperative to change the system.
