After a stint of almost six years, Som Gangopadhyay, Director Marketing &

Channel Business, Business Imaging and Solutions Division, Canon has quit the

company citing personal reasons. Gangopadhyay, who is likely to join the white

goods industry, resigned from his post last week and has been replaced by Rajeev

Tewari. Tewari will be the new divisional head for BIS-Channel Sales Division

with immediate effect.

When contacted, Gangopadhyay mentioned, "It is true that I am quitting Canon

as I am now looking forward to support my family in Kolkata. I am leaving the IT

industry and will now be joining a reputed organization dealing in white goods

by the middle of the November."

He further mentioned that he would be joining this other organization at a

parallel position. "My priority is different at the moment, and even before I

came into the IT industry I was working in the FMCG industry. Until 2002 I was

working with Philips India and hence this change will throw a lot of

opportunities before me."

Commenting on Gangopadhyay's decision, Alok Bhardwaj, VP, Canon India said, "Som

decided to quit as he wanted to shift to Kolkata due to personal compulsions. We

have lost a competent leader but the same has been replaced with another

competent authority in Rajeev who will now be the new Divisional Head for BIS-Channel

Sales Division."
