Gala show at the DQW Awards nite

The second annual DQ Week Awards for East India arrived with a gala nite at

the Taj Bengal, Kolkata. The much awaited award show was opened on August 24,

2005 to the packed hall of more than 370 audiences at the Crystal Hall

comprising of who's who of the entire channel community.

To acknowledge the importance of the channel community and to give

recognition to the excellent work done by them, 25 awards were given in seven

categories covering 10 cities of Eastern India. Also, two new categories were

introduced this year for Kolkata region -Software Reseller and Media resellers.

Chabria Infotech and Lalani Infotech were the award winners in the new category.

The DQ Week Awards were decided by an independent panel after much

deliberations and weighing the credibility of the contenders based on certain

given parameters that included overall reach of the channel partner, service

attitude of the long term commitment to the business, quantum of business done,

financial strength and expertise and knowledge of the channel partner in the

products he sells.

The panel comprised Prashant Prakash of HCL, Mandeep Bhandari of Intel,

Sanjay Ray of Xerox and Sanjay Joshi of Redington.

The chief guest on the occasion was Dr G D Gautama, Principal Secretary, Dept

of Information Technology, Govt of West Bengal. The other honourable guests

included Natesh Mani, Executive Director (New Office Group), Xerox; Shrikant

Bapat, VP, Emersion India and Pradeep Gupta, CMD and Publisher, Cyber Media

India Ltd. Referring to the overwhelming response of the entire industry who

gathered to witness the extravaganza in spite of all odds like heavy and

incessant shower and taxi strike, Dr Gautama congratulated the entire team of DQ

Week and thanked them for their untiring effort to highlight the growth of IT in

the state as well as in entire Eastern India and also for playing a pioneering

role in articulating the issues and concerns of the region's channel

community. Pradeep Gupta took the opportunity to share with the channel

community the splendid success of Cyber Media IPO.

Xerox presented the DQWK awards night in association with Emerson, Unistal,

Mora and Isyn as the regional sponsors. The award ceremony was preceded by a

brief and colorful presentation by Natesh Mani which focused on the enter

printer and MFD range of Xerox products.

The mega hit DQWK award ceremony was concluded on a thanksgiving speech by

Kingshuk Sircar, National Sales Manager of Cyber Media.

Keeping in mind the overall success of the second Annual DQ Week Awards Nite

in Kolkata one should not forget that The DQ Week, Kolkata is even less than six

months old and this is the first ever award ceremony hosted after the DQWK issue

was first launched in March 2005. This stupendous success is an example of the

everlasting relationship between the entire channel community of East India, the

vendors and the DQWK team. It is also going to be another worthy wait for a year

when the next DQWK Award Nite will arrive to celebrate the channel excellence in

the region.
