Narendra Bansal, Director, Intex Technologies (India) Ltd, not only dares to dream but also has the guts to carry on his dream. Today, Intex is a known brand in the market. Going down the memory lane he recalls his journey, the trials and tribulations. And how he fought through all the odds to realize his dreams.
The beginning
"I completed my graduation in the year 1985. I started my career with the electronics companies in Hong Kong and Singapore. In the year 1990 I returned to India and started my own business of import and distribution of electronic items like camera. In 1993 I identified the importance of the IT hardware sector and thus in 1996 was born Intex Technologies (India) Ltd, along with my three brothers. From the very beginning we had made up our mind to start a company with our own brand name. We started our business with just one item ethernet cards.
The expedition
We started the office in the year 1996 along with my three brothers, in Sant Nagar. Like a novice company we too faced certain difficulties. People made fun of us, as we were the only company after Microtek with a brand name. People used to say that we would never be successful. But rather, this made us even more resolute in our focus. In the year 1998 we shifted our base to Nehru Place and later to this present office at
Okhla.
The germination
Slowly and steadily we expanded our bouquet of products like hubs and switches. Earlier, we were also into networking but later moved on to cabinets where we found the much-needed recognition. But, from the very beginning we have tried to maintain a balance between quality and price. We have always tried never to compromise on the quality side and to provide the best to our customers. Today we have more than 200 products, 23 branches, 300 distributors and 10,000 dealers and a service network spread across the country. And in the year 1999 we achieved ISO 9002 certification from DNV. Apart from providing solutions and products like PCs, peripherals, hardware, multimedia products and lots more we have also entered the field of WAN and are associated with some of the leading American and Canadian companies. And also have developed credibility amongst the major ISPs of India.
In introspection
The last few quarters have been a mixed bag. In the same quarter we saw a rise and fall but nevertheless were able to maintain our sales. As compared to the last financial year this year we saw an increased sale of 50 percent. No doubt the market is growing at a very slow pace but the competitions has also increased. And as far as the roadmap is concerned we will try to make our brand more visible in the market.
