First national conference on Automotive Infotronics to be held in Chennai

SAE India, Engineering Society for Advanced Mobility in land, air, sea and space and an affiliate of SAE International, USA will be conducting the First National Conference on Automotive Infotronics in Chennai on 22-23 August. The conference will have Indian and international experts addressing on the various aspects of automotive infotronics in the areas of energy efficiency, safety and security, comfort, robustness and smartness in vehicle design and manufacture.

Dr V Ganesan, Chairman of the Conference said, "India is a preferred destination for several multinational automotive companies. With low cost manpower resources and high technical skills and global quality standards, these MNCs see India as a potential hub for manufacturing to export their products to Europe and Middle East. American, Korea and Japanese automotive giants have discovered the benefits the India market offers for their global ambitions, hence their technology sharing as also R&D options are moving towards India. With IT skills that India is already known the world over and the domain expertise in automotive industry, its apt for futuristic trends in automotive infotronics to be discussed and debated."

The convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Electronics is Infotronics. The automotive industry that was traditionally been dominated by mechanical engineers is currently witnessing infusion of IT and electronics application in all segments in order to meet the increasing demand of the customers and the tightening emission regulations being mandated by the Government.
