First IT Forum holds VAT seminar

Chandigarh's
newly formed focus group - First IT Forum that comprises 33 organizations has
recently organized a seminar on VAT for its channel partners from the Chandigarh
region. The seminar, attended by 40 members, addressed the impact of VAT on the
trader community. Issues like discrimination of VAT rates in various places like
Punjab, Haryana, J&K and Chandigarh and the issue of distributors charging
different rates was taken up.

Mukesh Gupta, a leading
Chartered Accountant and Narinder Sharma of Duggal Gupta & Associates
delivered the talk and answered questions on ITC claim, invoicing procedures,
cost billing, backend adjustments and confusion over different tax structures.

First IT Forum conducts
similar seminars every month. Earlier seminars have been on relationships with
principal and distributor and channel profitability. The next seminar planned
will be on profitability and taxation.

Also on the groups agenda is
a commercial hub in Chandigarh for which talks are already on. This IT mall will
house 33 shops where all distributors and dealers can work together under one
roof.

Members informed that the
group consists of 33 organi­zations and has no political intervention. With no
presi­dent or executive body members, all 33 members of this forum are at par.
“We are all presidents and secretaries of the forum,” said Satpal Singh of
First IT Forum.
