"I won and I get to scream and jump a little. But I got to go back to work tomorrow."
"Suddenly, going to work tomorrow doesn't seem like such a good idea."
"I want to thank the members of the Academy who were bold enough to give me this award."
"Awards shows are my greatest inducement to get back into shape."
"I love awards, especially if I get them."
"I love getting presents. And awards. I'd do whatever they told me to do."
These are some memorable quotes from Oscar award winners. And for many across the world, the Academy awards at Hollywood are the ultimate epitome of all award ceremonies. The DQ Week Premier Partner League is no exception. The award ceremonies that started off with a gala function in Mumbai also saw winners echoing similar sentiments.
Not surprising considering that The DQ Week PPL (formerly Annual Premier Reseller) awards are definitively the Oscars of India's IT channel community. It recognizes the achievements of best of the channel partners, eulogizing the different facets of business areas they have excelled in throughout the year.
The Mumbai award show which kicked off the program for this year was unique in many cases. Not only was the nomenclature changed (after all, what's in a name) to Premier Partner League, with Mumbai the awards reached a much wider audience via different social media like Facebook and Twitter. News about every winner and other sundry announcements about them were constantly being updated live on both. This was a definitely the first for a channel award; in fact, very few national level award functions in India have so effectively leveraged social media till date.
From a small reseller in Raipur and Amravati, to a mid-sized SI in Pune to a big partner in Mumbai, the spirit of the awards function and the national hype it generated, both in the channel fraternity and cyberspace, was really amazing. The enthusiasm generated was completely in sync with the coming of age of the Indian IT channel. With award functions lined up in Kolkata, Bengaluru and Delhi in the next few weeks, the fun has just begin. Watch out this space and the Facebook walls and tweets for more updates. And, best still turn up in person to watch channel history being made.
