Taking cue from big distributors like Ingram Micro and Redington,
distribution houses eSys and Neoteric are set to enter the Jammu market. With an
aim to push its product range, eSys is likely to start its Jammu operations by
September 15 while Neoteric is likely to do the same in about a month from now.

A source close to Neoteric in Delhi, on condition of anonymity, stated that
the company is working out on the finer details for setting up the office in
Jammu. This would be its entry point into the state of Jammu & Kashmir
(J&K) and the operations will be started within a period of one month.

"We think that Jammu is a good place to start our operations in J&K.
We would be starting this office by September 15 and we would certainly like to
go beyond Jammu, but this would depend on the market dynamics," informed, R
Govindan, CEO of eSys India operations in New Delhi.

Entry of eSys and Neoteric is likely to push sales of vendors like Seagate,
Intel, Asus and BenQ on the eSys side and Apple, Logitech, Mercury and Samsung
on the Neoteric side.

Commenting on this entry of distributors in the Jammu market, Sanjay Langer,
Managing Partner of Jammu-based AGM Sales Corporation said that it is good for
the regional market to have the presence of big IT distribution houses.

He elaborated: "I still remember the days when we didn't had any big
distributor in the region. Almost everybody was trying to get material from
Nehru Place-based dealers. Distributors got serious about this market only about
three years back. Now, the situation is quite good. This entry of eSys will
further enhance this market as more products will now be available easily."

As IT infrastructure demand generation is mostly happening in segments like
the Indian Army and the home segment-the market of Jammu is gauged to be in
the vicinity of 1,000 PCs per month. Jammu is considered an important location
in J&K as this market feeds to demand from places like Samba, Doda and
Kishtwar.
