Technology
solutions provider-Encore Software is eyeing the emerging market for Wi-Max
solutions, apart from marketing its flagship products - Simputer and Mobilis.

Vinay L Deshpande, Chairman
and CEO, Encore, said that the company is ready with Intellectual Property (IPs)
around Wi-Max technology.

“We are now in the process
of deciding whether to develop our own products based on these IPs or work with
OEM partners,” he said.

The company licenses around
35 IPs in areas such as VoIP, fax, modems and speech to various OEMs.

Deshpande also said that
Encore is now focusing on developing a portfolio of IPs for an entire reference
design since customers are now looking to source IPs from a single vendor.

About the company's plans
for Mobilis, Deshpande said that the company is targeting the product at
segments like education, e-governance, sales force automation, logistics and
interactive marketing.

Encore is also working with
application providers to develop relevant solutions related to these segments.
He said that he hoped to cement some deals in the next three months with
customers in US, Europe and Africa.

Deshpande attributed the
delays in marketing Mobilis to firming up contract manufacturing efforts. “We
seem to have generated a far greater pull for Mobilis than what we expected,”
he said.

The company, which was in the
R&D phase for the last three years, would be in black by March 2006. He
expects the next fiscal to be Encore's growth year.
