EMC gets a new CTO

Corporation announced, that it has
appointed Niranjan Thirumale as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of
the EMC India Center of Excellence (COE). In this role, Niranjan will
incubate
advanced research and technology development projects within the
India COE and raise the technical capabilities of the organization by
working closely with Sarv Saravanan, VP and MD, EMC India COE, and
other local business unit leaders to further develop the innovative
culture within the COE. Sarv Saravanan, VP and MD, EMC India
COE said, “Niranjan's appointment is part of our efforts to
strengthen the management team in India as we continue to grow our
center and enhance our delivery capabilities. As an experienced and
results-driven leader with a proven track record, we expect him to
contribute significantly to the mission of the EMC India COE which is
to ensure that our customers globally will receive the highest
quality service and standards to drive business results.”

Prior to joining India COE, Niranjan
had worked at NetApp where he was the founding member and technical
leader of its advanced technology group in India and was responsible
for driving innovation, long-term vision. He also worked at IBM for
over eight years in the US. At work, Niranjan enjoys the challenge of
solving tough problems, setting and driving long-term agendas. Niranjan
is an Engineer in Computer
Science from IIT, Chennai. He also holds an MS degree and Ph.D (in
File Systems) from State University of New York at Stony Brook.
