EDS has announced the creation of its fifth line of business-PLM Solutions, combining the former Unigraphics Solutions (UGS) and Structural Dynamics Research Corporation
(SDRC).
PLM Solutions delivers integrated technology and services supporting the entire lifecycle of a product-from concept and development to distribution and delivery. It becomes EDS' fifth line of business, joining AT Kearney, Business Process Management, E Solutions and Information Solutions.
Merging the complementary products of SDRC and UGS, the two former organizations give PLM, the industry's most comprehensive digitized product lifecycle management software and services. PLM products are used to help manufacturing companies optimize their product lifecycle process by digitally producing and sharing product planning, design, manufacturing information and its distribution via local networks and the Internet.
EDS also announced the leadership team for the new line of business. Tony Affuso, the previous head of UGS has been named as the President of the new organization. Hans-Kurt Luebberstedt has been named as the President of the Asia Pacific region. Narendar Reddy has been appointed as the President and would be heading the Indian Operations of EDS PLM solutions. Narendar Reddy was previously the head of SDRC operations in India.
Affuso said, "We will work closely with our teams to stimulate collaboration and help increase the reach and capabilities of EDS' newest line of business. PLM Solutions is in a prime position to deliver digitized product lifecycle management solutions that ensure our customers are on the leading edge in creating next-generation products at Internet speed." He also added that this line of business is expected to earn more than $1 billion in annual revenues.
